Why the rye egg sandwich?

If you are tired of the old fashioned fried eggs, try the rye egg sandwich, it is a perfect combination of firm rye bread and soft flowing egg, cooked to perfection.

You will need:

  • 2 slices of rye bread
  • 2 eggs
  • cooking oil
  • a frying pan
  • spices - dill, salt
  • side dishes

To prepare the sandwich, 2 holes are cut in the bread, the egg will be added here. The frying pan is warmed up on low heat and the bread is added. This will absorb some of the oil, which will add to the flavor. The bread slices can each have individual egg added, or you can stack the sandwich and add 2 eggs together for a softer tasting sandwich.

After abot 5-7 minutes on low heat, the sandwich is gently flipped and fried on the other side.

Together, you are getting:

260 calories from 2 rye bread slices

100 calories from 2 tablespoons of oil

140 calories from 2 eggs

Carrots and onions add another 50 calories or so.

Together the sandwich is 550 calories, rich in B vitamins for energy, and has a good balance of protein, carbohydrates, fats and dietary fiber. This is a truly energetic breakfast to start your day!

Cooking time is about 15 minutes on low heat

Taste

The sandwich is delicious. The bread is lighly toasted, bringing forward the natural flavor of rye and cooked oil. The bread's crust becomes more crunchy, while the inside remains soft and chewy. The egg is fried on both sides, remaining soft in the middle. This can be toasted to taste, but it tastes delicious!

The crunchy onions and carrots complement the sandwich.
